About Laverne Wilson-Valis
Laverne Wilson-Valis is currently based out of Brooklyn, New York, where she owns and runs Elder Friends Concierge Services ™️. She has spent most of her career in public service, working with the New York City Police Department for over 22 years. There, she learned crucial administrative and leadership skills that have served her well as an entrepreneur and CEO. She worked as an instructor for the Police Academy and eventually took on a supervisory role. Recently, however, she has pivoted her career to focus on a cause she is deeply passionate about.
After supporting her ailing father and other aging family members, Laverne Wilson-Valis became more aware of the challenges of elderly individuals striving to live independently. This knowledge led to her founding Elder Friends Concierge Services™️, through which Laverne provides non-medical, elder home-care services to support individuals aging in place. Laverne strongly believes that keeping elderly individuals in their homes, where they are comfortable and can maintain a level of independence, makes a big difference in their ability to age happily and healthily. However, in order to accomplish this, these individuals often need some extra support to manage their day-to-day activities. Elder Friends Concierge Services ™️ provides services ranging from simple companionship to home organization and running errands.
As the CEO of Elder Friends Concierge Services ™️, Laverne Wilson-Valis has worked hard to build a team of highly trained and trustworthy individuals. They specialize in providing personalized care that is tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each client they work with. Laverne’s team is instrumental in reducing the stress and emotional load on family members, providing peace of mind and freeing up time by conducting wellness checks and being present when loved ones are unable to be there themselves. Whether a family is looking for long-term, in-home care or just a short-term position to help a loved one transition or recover from a procedure, Laverne and Elder Friends Concierge Services ™️ are eager to find a solution that works well for everyone involved.
In order to build a solid foundation for her career, Laverne Wilson-Valis sought to further her education. She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration from The State University of New York, and later, she enrolled at St. John’s College, where she first earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management followed by a Master of Professional Studies in Criminal Justice. Since launching her company, she has also pursued multiple certifications. She is a certified Senior Home Safety Specialist under the Age Safe America and has completed training in Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia care and Senior Living Care Management with Cornell University. Additionally, she is a trained Personal Concierge from the International Association of Professional Career College.
